Encounter God

One encounter can change your life.

Salt & Light

Jesus told his disciples: you are the salt and the light of the world. Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

As followers of Christ, we are called to be salt and light in our world — the circles of influence we find ourselves in — for one purpose: so others would come to know Christ.

Discover what it means to be the salt and the light of the world at the Ignite Retreat — a weekend gathering of college students and young adults from the West Central and Eastern Iowa region.

About the Ignite Retreat

The Ignite Retreat is unlike any college student retreat you’ve ever attended. Held at a retreat center nestled in the woods in West Central Illinois, everything about this retreat is designed to help you have a genuine encounter with God — whether by being challenged in the sessions, hearing God during worship and prayer, building relationships and getting advice from other students over meal times, or in your one-on-one time with God, we guarantee you will experience a new level with Him. College students and young adults from throughout the West Central Illinois and Eastern Iowa regions come together for a weekend — and leave changed.

About Camp Summit

Camp Summit’s peaceful setting makes it the perfect location for the Ignite Retreat.

Located four miles south of New Windsor, IL, the Christian youth camp sits on 65 peaceful acres and features a 4-acre lake for fishing and boating, hiking trails, wilderness camping and many outdoor activities including a low ropes challenge course.

The air-conditioned lodge has a wrap around deck and is handicap accessible.

What students say

God told me that I am important, that my ideas matter, my words matter, and I matter.
LEXIS TURNERMonmouth College
I came into the week very burnt out. This was really the thing I needed to re-energize and finish the year strong.
Eric VogelKnox College
I heard that I was losing precious time because I was putting my wants ahead of God’s will. It’s stamped. I’m done! I’m obeying now. And God will be my helper.
Cyril Hansen QuarteyMonmouth College
I felt God was telling me not to worry about the stuff I don’t have because He will provide – and that I should be grateful for what I already have.
Roberto DavilaKnox College
Before this retreat, I was so insecure with sharing with others what all God has done in my life. Never had I told my testimony so many times and with so much passion. Ignite has taught me that it is not all about me, it’s everyone around me. I will make a difference because I am MARKED by God.
Rosie SchumacherIllinois Central College
For college students, especially Christians attending a non-Christian college, it’s really hard to keep my faith. We often are discouraged by non-Christians, or stressful college life. But for this retreat, I could really encounter God, recheck the path I was walking, and get encouraged by fellow Christians.

What if I can't afford the cost?

We have a rule here in Ignite: never let money be the reason why you don’t have an encounter with God. Scholarships are available to help you offset or completely cover the cost of the Ignite Retreat.

We do have one requirement: if you require a scholarship, you need to invite friends to a Facebook Fundraiser.

Simply indicate on the registration form that you need a scholarship, and we’ll be in touch to get you covered.

What if I can't make the whole weekend?

The Ignite Retreat is best experienced in full. However, we know sometimes that’s just not possible. Let us know on your registration form that you can only make part of the retreat, and we’ll let you know the cost for the time you’ll be there.

What is the age limit for the retreat?

The Ignite Retreat is open to high school seniors, college students, and young adults up to age 24.

How do I pay for the retreat?

You can pay online when you book your registration (the best option to receive discounts!) or make a check out to Ignite or bring cash to your local Ignite group to pay.

No Ignite group at your campus? We’ll send out instructions via email when you register.

How can you promise that I'll encounter God?

God often shows up in our lives when we disconnect from everything else and pursue Him. If you fully engage during the retreat — be involved in the sessions, worship fully, share with others, spend time with Him — you will hear God in some way.

What if I don't have a car?

Carpooling is available from each college campus. When you register for the retreat, we will connect you with the carpooling group from your school.

I have a food allergy. What do I do?

There’s a field on the registration form that asks about food allergies and dietary restrictions. Simply indicate any allergies or restrictions when you register and we’ll make sure the food is safe for you to eat.
